Why can PAYE increase when I add a second job?
Adding a second job can change how credits and rate bands are allocated across employments. If credits are mainly allocated to one job, the other job may deduct PAYE at higher marginal rates.
How do I estimate the impact of allocation changes?
For planning, model total annual income and compare scenarios with different credit assumptions. The calculator can give a net pay sensitivity range, but payroll allocation can change payslip results.
Does this affect USC and PRSI too?
USC and PRSI are calculated separately, but combined income can change thresholds and month-to-month behaviour. PAYE is usually the most sensitive line item to credit allocation.
